Your correspondent had just had a non-erupted wisdom tooth out. The op went fine even without a sedative, I’m told it’s the recovery that is worse so two types of painkiller to work through alternately.

All of mine were taken out ~10 years ago. It wasn’t very fun but less painful than I was waiting for. I got really weird adverse effects from the anesthetic that was used. Wh en the main effect started to wear out I started feeling very very cold.

I had mine removed at 19. One was fine, two were angling backwards, and one was even more to the front than pictured. Operation and recovery was painless, the only problem I had was that I went to sleep afterwards, woke up, opened my mouth and then had a mouthful of blood pour out, staining the wood floor.

My dentist wants me to have all four of mine out. They’re not a problem per se, but they are starting to decay. I’ve been putting it off.

I had my wisdom teeth out, and never took the painkillers. All the pain was immediately gone with the tooth. One of the quickest and painless dentist visits ever.

I had mine out the senior year of high school. Wasn’t too bad of a recovery. Just sucked trying to eat for a few days. And the painkillers made me puke a lot.

They did the surgery without a sedative?  Wtf?  I basically need lido for a cleaning

I had one side pulled at a time, so I went through wisdom tooth pain twice. The first side I had pulled because they were actually coming through my gums, but after the dentist did that side he referred me to an oral surgeon since he said my wisdom teeth run really deep. I could tell since I was awake during this procedure and he was drilling the fuck out of those teeth.

The second time, I was knocked out and the recovery from that was definitely longer and more painful. I was given tramadol but I found it didn’t really do much - I thought it’d be much more effective given that it’s an opioid and came with pages of documentation which I didn’t read thoroughly but was mostly a lesson on the dangers of opioids.

I’m also sort of waiting until I have a couple of weeks with no gigs. That won’t be until after July 4.

I had mine pulled in the same situation.  Took a long weekend around July 4th and it went well.  No sedative, barely any strong pain killers, just once a day at night to put me to sleep.

I had all four removed in one go. Used that ‘twilight sleep’ anesthetic and started to come to in the middle of it when the dental surgeon had both hands and a pair of pliers in my mouth...

He said he was going to do it under general, I demurred so we went with local. If you’re reasonably accustomed to fillings and other pokings around in your mouth it’s no big deal/. No pain, you just feel the pressure as they lever the tooth/teeth out and hear the drill.

Oh, I thought you meant you went without any anesthetic. I’ve had extractions with just lido before
